Internet browsers are the primary interface between users and the Internet. An internet browser’s job consists of a lot more than simply rendering webpages today. They are responsible for many plugins that are used to display video, audio and give the Web the rich content that makes it grab the attention of the user. Today, several games are played directly in the browser. Throughout the browser’s history it has also been a platform that has provided numerous security holes and flaws resulting in countless compromised computer systems and endless amounts of malware and viruses.
It’s important to pick a browser that not only suits your needs but also provides you with the best amount of security that it can offer. Recently Google Chrome was declared by independent security experts to be the most secure browser on the market. Google Chrome is built by Google and was created to be light, fast and secure. When Chrome entered the market it was one of the first browsers to create a “Sandbox Mode” where each tab runs not only as an independent process but also has very limited access to system resources where things like hijack sites and malware would typically attach themselves. In addition to that, Google Chrome has several blacklists that are automatically updated regularly. These blacklists are used to block sites or at a minimum alert you to sites that might be malicious.
Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 are also typically browsers that are synonymous with security. Both have feature sets that have been helping to keep people away from malware for some time now. All versions of Internet Explorer are not created the same. Developers have been trying to get rid of Internet Explorer 6 for quite some time now, as is it a security risk to anyone who has installed it or neglected to update it.
